Our Approach
At a baseline level, we emphasize a trauma-focused approach to therapy, meaning we prioritize building trust and safety, body/nervous system awareness, tolerance levels, and slower processing as a part of the therapeutic experience. Most of us have experienced some form of trauma (no matter how big or small), and unfortunately, many traditional therapy practices are not trauma-informed. It is a value of ours not to create an experience that could be retraumatizing.
In addition to this, we also emphasize a relational and humanistic approach to therapy, meaning we focus on building real, genuine connection with our clients. You won’t find a blank-slate therapist here! A huge part of feeling safe in therapy is building a healthy attachment/connection, and we believe that works best when we are all showing up as ourselves.
