About Jason
I’m a Pacific Northwest native who has always been drawn to understanding people and supporting them through life’s challenges. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University, and my path into this work has been shaped by a variety of meaningful experiences. I’ve spent time as a Japanese preschool teacher, worked as a behavioral specialist with children and teens, and served as a mental health counseling intern at Edmonds College. Each role taught me something different about resilience, connection, and how important it is to have someone genuinely in your corner.
My focus includes depression, anxiety, trauma, men’s issues, multicultural identity, Asian American experiences, and supporting teens and young adults. Being half Japanese and having gone through my own mental health journey, I bring a culturally aware and compassionate lens to therapy. I know how meaningful it can feel to be understood—especially when navigating identity, stress, or major life shifts.
I became a therapist because I care deeply about helping people feel less alone and more in touch with their strengths. I value humor, empathy, realistic expectations, and the small moments of joy that make change possible. Above all, I aim to offer a space where you feel safe, supported, and welcomed exactly as you are.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m passionate about video games, snowboarding, weight lifting, taking care of my plants, and appreciating tattoos as a form of personal expression. These interests help keep me grounded and connected to the creativity and balance I encourage in my clients.
My Background
I see therapy as a collaborative relationship built on trust, honesty, and compassion. My approach is non-judgmental, client-centered, and grounded in the belief that people thrive when they feel safe, understood, and supported. I work holistically, honoring each person’s cultural background, lived experience, and personal values.
I draw from person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, DBT, strengths-based approaches, and multicultural frameworks. These modalities give me flexibility, allowing me to meet clients where they are and adapt our work to what feels meaningful and effective for them.
Therapy with me is tailored to each individual through collaborative goal-setting, flexible pacing, and a focus on your unique strengths. In our sessions, you can expect honesty, genuine support, humor when it helps, and a space where you don’t have to filter yourself. My goal is simple: to help you reach your goals—whether that’s healing, growth, stability, or a deeper sense of self.
My tone as a therapist is grounded, gentle, supportive, and honest. I aim to help you feel both understood and empowered as we navigate challenges together at your own pace. I offer virtual therapy Tuesday-Friday, and in-person appointments in Ballard on Tuesday and Friday afternoons/evenings.
